Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 1, 2026

The short version

Your files never leave your device. All image processing happens in your browser using JavaScript. We do not upload, collect, store, or transmit your files. There are no tracking pixels and no cookies. We use Plausible, a cookieless, privacy-first analytics service that collects no personal data and does not track individual users.

What we do not collect

Image Tools does not collect:

  • Your files or images (all processing is client-side)
  • Cookies (no first-party cookies are set)
  • IP addresses (not logged or stored by us; see Hosting section below for details on our hosting provider)
  • Device fingerprints
  • Location data
  • Personal information or user accounts

You can verify this yourself. Open your browser DevTools (Network tab) while using any tool. You will see zero outbound requests during file processing. Every tool page includes a built-in network activity monitor that confirms this in real time.

Analytics

We use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-first, cookieless analytics service hosted in the EU. Plausible collects aggregate pageview counts only. It does not use cookies, does not collect personal data, and does not track you across sites. No individual visitor profiles are created.

You can read more about Plausible's data practices in their data policy.

Local storage

Image Tools uses your browser's local storage for a small number of user preferences. This data never leaves your browser and is not transmitted to any server.

  • dyslexic-font-enabled: Remembers whether you activated the dyslexic-friendly font toggle (true/false)
  • pro-license: Stores your Pro subscription status after purchase (active/inactive)
  • pro-token: Stores your Pro license token after purchase

Session storage is used temporarily for:

  • chainedFile: Passes a file between tools when you use the "Send to..." feature
  • pro-nudge-dismissed: Remembers if you dismissed the Pro upgrade suggestion this session
  • base64-output-format: Remembers your chosen output format in the Base64 tool

Session storage is automatically cleared when you close the browser tab.

You can clear all stored data at any time through your browser settings.

External resources

Image Tools loads a small number of third-party libraries from content delivery networks (CDNs) to provide specific functionality. These requests are standard browser resource loads and do not transmit your files or personal data.

  • JSZip (cdnjs.cloudflare.com): Loaded on pages with batch/ZIP download functionality
  • Highlight.js (cdnjs.cloudflare.com): Loaded on the Code to Image tool for syntax highlighting
  • Pica (cdnjs.cloudflare.com): Loaded on the Image Optimizer for high-quality resizing
  • Transformers.js (cdn.jsdelivr.net): Loaded on the Background Remover for AI model inference

When your browser loads these resources, your IP address is transmitted to the CDN provider as part of the standard HTTP request. No file data is included in these requests. These CDN requests are subject to the privacy policies of their respective providers (Cloudflare, jsDelivr). Fonts used by the OG Image Generator (Playfair Display, Space Grotesk, Bebas Neue, Outfit, Fraunces) are self-hosted alongside our primary fonts.

Fonts used across the site (Satoshi, IBM Plex Mono, OpenDyslexic) are self-hosted and do not make external requests.

Payments and Pro subscriptions

If you purchase a Pro subscription, payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe. Your card details are entered directly into Stripe's payment form and never touch our systems.

Stripe may collect information necessary to process your payment, including your card number, billing address, and email. This data is governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy.

The checkout page loads Stripe.js (js.stripe.com) to render the payment form securely. Stripe may set cookies on the checkout page for fraud prevention (e.g., __stripe_mid, __stripe_sid). These are classified as strictly necessary for secure payment processing.

Hosting

Image Tools is a static website hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Your browser downloads HTML, CSS, and JavaScript files from Cloudflare's global edge network. No server-side code runs during image processing.

Cloudflare may log IP addresses, request URLs, and timestamps as part of standard web server operations and DDoS protection. CleanPX may view aggregate, anonymous statistics provided by Cloudflare (such as total request counts by country) for site health monitoring. This data cannot identify individual visitors. Cloudflare's handling of this data is governed by their Privacy Policy.

Cloudflare does not set tracking cookies on this site. No first-party or third-party cookies are set on any page except the checkout page (where Stripe sets cookies for fraud prevention, as described above).

Legal basis for processing (GDPR)

Image Tools is operated by CleanPX. For the limited data processing described on this page, we rely on the following legal bases under the EU General Data Protection Regulation:

  • Legitimate interest: Storing user preferences in localStorage (e.g., font toggle) to provide site functionality, and loading resources from CDNs to deliver the service
  • Contractual necessity: Processing payment data through Stripe when you purchase a Pro subscription

Your rights

EU/EEA residents: Under the GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, and port your personal data. Since Image Tools does not store personal data on any server, there is no server-side data to access, correct, or delete. You can clear locally stored preferences at any time through your browser settings. For data subject requests, visit our About page for contact information.

California residents: We do not sell personal information. Under the CCPA/CPRA, you have the right to know what personal information is collected and to request its deletion. As stated above, we do not collect personal information beyond what is stored locally in your own browser.

Children's privacy

Image Tools does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Since we do not collect personal information from anyone, this applies equally to all users.

Changes to this policy

If we make changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Since we do not collect email addresses, we cannot notify you of changes directly. We recommend checking this page periodically.
