What icons do I need for a Progressive Web App?

PWAs require multiple icon sizes for different platforms and contexts. The Web App Manifest specification requires 192x192 and 512x512 as minimum sizes. Most apps also include Apple touch icons, browser favicons, and Windows tile icons.

Required PWA icon sizes

192x192 and 512x512: Mandatory sizes specified in the Web App Manifest standard, used for install prompts and splash screens
180x180: Apple Touch Icon for iOS home screens and bookmarks
32x32 and 16x16: Browser tab favicons for desktop browsers
150x150: Windows tile icon size commonly used for Start menu pinning
Maskable icons (optional): Recommended for Android adaptive masks. Create a separate maskable asset if your app needs one.
